Lucknow, December 25: A B.Tech student injured in a road accident in Lucknow’s Banthra police station area has died during treatment. The deceased has been identified as Saksham Shukla (19), a resident of Piparsand village in the Sarojini Nagar area. He was on his way to the university by car to take a computer exam, police informed.
According to reports, a speeding dumper hit the car from the front near Hindustan Academy around 9 a.m. on Wednesday. The impact was so severe that the car was badly damaged and the driver, Saksham, was seriously injured. The injured student was immediately rushed to the trauma center, where he died Thursday morning during treatment.
Banthra police station in-charge Rana Rajesh Kumar said that prima facie the accident occurred due to the dumper coming from the wrong direction. After the accident, the dumper driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. Police have seized the dumper and are searching for the driver. The body has been sent for a postmortem and legal action is being taken. He said the deceased, Saksham Shukla, was the son of Dheeraj Shukla. He was a B.Tech student at Chandigarh University in Nawabganj, Unnao. The family includes his mother, Lakshmi Devi, and younger sister, Chhavi.
