Bareilly, October 11: The administration is tightening its grip on Arif, a close associate of Maulana Tauqeer Raza, who is considered the mastermind of the unrest in the city.

On Saturday, a joint team of the Bareilly Development Authority (BDA) and the district administration took major action against Arif’s illegal properties. The team sealed two clothing showrooms and 15 shops owned by Arif on Pilibhit Bypass Road.

According to BDA officials, Arif, the owner of Faham Lawn, had been operating a gym, a home decor center, and clothing stores throughout the commercial complex without approved maps. The BDA sealed the premises after an inspection found the construction to be illegal. A heavy police force was deployed to prevent any untoward incident. This is not the first action against Arif. Earlier, the BDA team had sealed Faham Lawn, Skylark Hotel, and Flora Garden Baraat Ghar, calling them illegal constructions. The administration is now preparing to demolish the house of Farhat, a resident of Faik Enclave, and other baraat ghar owned by Arif.

BDA officer Ajit Singh, Tehsildar Vidit Kumar, and his team were involved in the action.

BDA Vice President Manikandan A said the authority’s action against illegal buildings will continue.
