Sitapur, June 28: The Uttar Pradesh’s Anti Terrorist Squad ( UP ATS) has arrested a person involved in smuggling of counterfeit currency from the Sitapur district. The ATS has recovered fake notes worth more than one lakh from the accused.
In fact, on Friday, ATS exposed a gang that printed fake notes and supplied them in various districts of UP. Three accused including the gang leader involved in this gang were arrested. In this regard, a case has been registered in Lucknow ATS police station.
During interrogation of these accused, ATS got information that Anas Ahmed, a resident of Sitapur district, is also involved in the work of supplying fake notes in this case. After this, ATS laid a trap on Saturday and arrested Anas from Sidhauli Ahmedpur Jat Marg in Sitapur. Fake notes worth Rs 1.5 lakh were recovered from him. According to the police, the accused accepted that all the recovered notes were fake and these notes were given to him by Gajendra Yadav, a resident of Baghpat, to sell.
It is noteworthy that the ATS had arrested the members of the gang engaged in printing and smuggling fake notes from Hapur district. Fake notes worth Rs 3.90 lakh and other items were seized from them. The arrested accused have been identified as Gajendra Yadav, a resident of Hapur district, Siddharth Jha, a resident of New Delhi and Vijay Veer Chaudhary, a resident of Bulandshahr. The kingpin of this gang, Gajendra Yadav, was posted as a postman at Lakhan Railway Station, Pilkhuwa.
