Sultanpur, 07 August: National Convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal has got relief from Sultanpur’s MP MLA Court.
The court has given him conditional permission to renew his passport. The court has also directed that Kejriwal will not be able to leave the country without any information.
This case is related to 2014 Lok Sabha elections. At that time Kejriwal had come to Amethi to campaign for AAP candidate Kumar Vishwas. During this time two cases were registered against him in Gauriganj and Musafirkhana police station of Amethi district. Hearing of these cases is going on in the MP-MLA Court of Sultanpur District Court.
Kejriwal’s advocate Rudra Pratap Singh Madan told on Thursday that Kejriwal is on bail in these cases. At present, the proceedings in this case are suspended on the instructions of the Supreme Court. Kejriwal’s passport has expired.
He had sought permission from the court to renew his passport for foreign travel. The MP-MLA court has accepted this request conditionally. The court has clarified that they cannot leave the country without permission.
