Mirzapur, May 17: The Adani Group has announced to set up a huge coal-based 1500 MW thermal power plant in Dadri Khurd village of Mirzapur, which will be the largest power project in Uttar Pradesh till date. On May 16, a long-term agreement for power supply was signed between The Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) and Adani Power Limited.
Investment of 2 billion dollars, thousands will get employment
This project, which is going to be built at a cost of about 2 billion dollars (about Rs 16,600 crore), will provide employment to 8,000 to 9,000 people during construction. As soon as the operation starts, about 2,000 permanent job opportunities will also be created.
Adani Power CEO SB Khyali said that this plant will not only generate electricity but will also brighten the lives of thousands of families.
Electricity rate is affordable, UP will save Rs 2958 crore
The rate of electricity from this power plant has been fixed at Rs 5.383 per unit, which will save the state about Rs 2958 crore in the next 25 years. This plant will be equipped with 2×800 MW ultra-supercritical technology, which will reduce pollution and increase power generation.
Mission will be completed by 2030, UP’s energy needs will be met
This greenfield project will be built on the ‘Design, Build, Finance, Own and Operate’ model. Adani Group aims to start this power plant at full capacity by the financial year 2030.

The Uttar Pradesh cabinet has already given the green signal to this mega project. Now with this agreement, a new revolution has begun regarding the energy needs of the state. This step of Adani Power will not only make Mirzapur a hub of energy, but will also show the whole state a new path of sustainable and affordable electricity.
