Bareilly, November 16: Nearly two months after the indiscriminate firing at Bollywood actress Disha Patani’s Bareilly home, the administration has taken a major step and issued a arms license to her father, retired CO Jagdish Patani.
District Magistrate Avnish Singh approved the revolver/pistol license after all investigations were completed.
On the intervening night of September 11-12, bike-borne assailants fired 10 rounds at the Patani family’s home in the Baradari area. Disha’s sister, former Army officer Khushboo Patani, her parents, and family members were present at the home. When Jagdish Patani reached the balcony during the firing, the attackers also fired at him. He saved his life by lying on the floor. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras and went viral.
The notorious Rohit Godara and Goldy Brar, who are said to be associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the attack on social media.
They claimed that the narrator Aniruddh Acharya was attacked out of anger over Khushboo Patani’s comments. Khushboo had recently reacted strongly to the narrator’s controversial statement in a video.
Since the incident, the Patani family’s security has been increased and police surveillance is ongoing. Now, after receiving a weapons license, Jagdish Patani feels somewhat safer, although the fear of attack is still clearly visible on the family’s faces.
DM Avnish Singh said, “This matter was sensitive. The license was approved after a security assessment, police report, and all necessary verifications. The family’s safety is our priority.”
