Covid scare: Rs 100 fine for not wearing mask at LJN and LKO

Lucknow, 19 March: The railway administration has started tightening at major railway stations including Lucknow Junction or LJN ( HQ of NER) and Charbagh Railway Station or LKO ( HQ of NR) in view of the rising of the Covid-19 cases in the capital Lucknow. At Lucknow Junction and Charbagh railway station, a fine of Rs 100 will now be charged from unmasked passengers.

Corona infection is increasing rapidly across the states of Maharashtra, Punjab, Delhi and South. A large number of people are travelling to Lucknow from these states on daily trains due to Holi festival.

Around 72 mail-express and passenger trains are currently operating at Charbagh railway station.

Similarly, more than 15 trains are being operated at Lucknow Junction. These are the major trains like Lucknow Mail, Pushpak Express, Shatabdi Express and Tejas. Many passengers travelling on these trains are careless about the corona.

The railway administration has started surprise inspections at major railway stations including Charbagh and Lucknow Junction in the capital in view of the increasing of Covid-19 cases. Passengers with no masks are being made aware. Even after this, passengers who do not wear masks will be fined hundred rupees.

Meanwhile, TTE and his wife travelling from Pushpak Express running between Lucknow and Mumbai were found corona positive on Wednesday. After this, now 12 railway personnel posted at Alambagh thermal plant have been found to be Corona positive. The railway administration has closed the plant for 24 hours. In this plant fluid connecting rail tracks is made.

Lucknow Junction director Girish Kumar Singh said on Friday that a list of all the information including the names, addresses, and mobile numbers of the passengers who landed in Lucknow from other states are being sent to the government. So that contact tracing can be done easily when any traveller gets infected.

He informed that the passengers are being made aware to protect and wear mask to prevent from Covid-19.
