Gorakhpur, April 16: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that after 2017, timely recruitment, training, and infrastructure development in the police department have increased the pace of police work. This has resulted in a better security environment in the state and the establishment of a model of good governance.

He added that in the last nine years, the recruitment process for more than 219,000 police personnel has been completed.

Chief Minister Yogi was addressing the inauguration ceremony of two modern security buildings constructed for the security of the Gorakhnath Temple area on Thursday morning. These buildings house the offices of the Additional Superintendent of Police and Deputy Superintendent of Police, a control room, a police store room, and a maintenance workshop related to temple security. The construction cost over โ‚น9.18 crore.

After inaugurating the security building, the Chief Minister toured and inspected the facilities available in the building.

Addressing the gathering on this occasion, the Chief Minister said that security is the first condition of good governance. Every person needs security. Efforts are made at the government level to achieve this. However, we could only see one aspect of it. Whether it’s a simple police constable, a sub-inspector, or a deputy superintendent, if they lack training, they too are considered a common man.

Yogi said that previously, recruitment, training, and infrastructure were neglected. This resulted in many young people not wanting to join the police force. Discussing the changes in the police department since 2017, the Chief Minister said that when his government came to power nine years ago, more than half the posts in the police force were vacant.

He stated that in the past nine years, the recruitment process for more than 219,000 police personnel has been completed.

He added that in 2017, the police training capacity was no more than three thousand at one time. Currently, as a result of the development of infrastructure, 60,000 police personnel are trained at a time. Timely decisions and timely resources have provided the police with 200 times more facilities.

Yogi said that previously, whether it was a police station, outpost, police line, or PAC battalion, there were no adequate housing facilities or good barracks for policemen. Policemen lived in rented accommodations, living in a rented house. Often, complaints were received that a policeman had occupied a house, but he would not reclaim it. It would be revealed that his child had exams, and the landlord would ask him to vacate. He would get irritated and say, “I will not vacate.”

Chief Minister said that this was a common complaint. Today, all these complaints have ended because the government has provided housing facilities and built barracks in every police line.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that in the past, police station buildings were constructed, but barracks were not. Other facilities were lacking. Often, when the police apprehended a criminal, there were no arrangements for their stay. The police often appeared helpless, and the criminal escaped.

He said that the police no longer need to feel helpless. Now, criminals cannot escape because the police station has facilities to detain them.

He added that no one can attack the police station now, as separate barracks equipped with excellent facilities have been built for police personnel. Adequate numbers of police personnel will be available at every station at all times. Police personnel will always be on duty, ready to deal with anyone who attempts to breach the police station’s security.

On this occasion, Mayor Dr Manglesh Shrivastava, MLC and BJP State Vice President Dr Dharmendra Singh, MLAs Vipin Singh, Mahendra Pal Singh, Pradeep Shukla, Sarwan Nishad, State Government Advisor Awanish Awasthi, ADG Gorakhpur Zone Mutha Ashok Jain, ADG Security Tarun Gaba, BJP District President Janardan Tiwari, Metropolitan Coordinator Rajesh Gupta etc. were prominently present.
