Kolkata, March 28: The West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Election Commission. She alleged that the transfers of senior administrative and police officers in the state were part of a conspiracy to influence the elections. She said that this move was taken with the aim of giving the BJP an advantage in the assembly elections.

Addressing a public meeting in Raniganj in West Bardhaman district, Mamata Banerjee said that the BJP has now crossed all limits and there should be a line of decorum in politics which should not be crossed.

The Chief Minister alleged that a large number of officers were transferred to other states, while those who understood the local conditions were removed, weakening the administration. She said this was being done to increase external influence in the state and influence the election situation.

She alleged that irregularities were being committed in the name of removing names from the voter list and attempts were being made to influence the democratic process.

Mamata Banerjee also referred to the violence that occurred during the Ram Navami procession in Raghunathganj, Murshidabad district. She said that the administration is not under her control at this time, as the administrative system remains under the election authority during the election process.

She said that there were incidents of looting of shops and damage to property in Raghunathganj, but she should not be blamed for this, as she currently has no administrative control. She warned that those instigating the violence would not be spared in due course.

The Chief Minister alleged that if the BJP comes to power, bulldozer politics will begin and people will be evicted from their homes. She claimed that similar actions had taken place in the Behala area.

Mamata Banerjee apologized to the affected people and said that the state government would rebuild their shops and properties.

The Chief Minister hit back at the BJP, alleging that the same party that accuses the Trinamool Congress of corruption is the one that amasses wealth through the illegal coal trade. She accused the BJP of adopting double standards.

In her address, Mamata Banerjee said that West Bengal has been known for social harmony and communal unity. She said that people of all religions in the state celebrate festivals like Ram Navami, Durga Puja, Eid, and Christmas together, and this is Bengal’s true strength.

The Chief Minister also announced a rehabilitation package for the landslide-affected areas of Raniganj. She said that human life is most important and the government does not want anyone to live in danger zones.

She announced that those who wish to move to safer locations will receive financial assistance of โ‚น10 lakh and two houses. The government will also bear the entire cost of relocation. She stated that 2,000 houses have been constructed so far, and plans are underway to build 4,000 more.

Mamata Banerjee also clarified that this relocation will be completely voluntary. She said the government is not forcing anyone, but is appealing to people to consider moving to safer locations, keeping their safety in mind. She warned that if a major landslide occurs, thousands of lives could be at risk
