Hyderabad, March 15. The case of a drug party allegedly held at a farmhouse in the Moinabad area of Rangareddy district in Telangana has now become a major controversy in political and administrative circles. The presence of industrialists, real estate businessmen, and political leaders at the party has further heightened the situation.
The police investigation is revealing several shocking revelations, while opposition parties have alleged that political pressure is being exerted to protect some influential people.Â
According to the police, they received a tip-off that a drug party was being held at a farmhouse in Aziznagar, Moinabad. Upon receiving information, a five-member team from the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (Eagle) raided the farmhouse around 9:30 pm on Saturday night. However, during the raid, the police faced initial resistance while entering the farmhouse. Security personnel at the gate and the farmhouse owner, former MLA Pilot Rohit Reddy, reportedly refused to allow the police team to enter immediately. Following the situation, the police called in the Special Operations Team (SOT), with their assistance, to enter the farmhouse.Â
As per the police information, during the raid, police recovered approximately two grams of cocaine from the farmhouse. Investigations also revealed that a total of 11 people were present at the party, of whom six tested positive for drugs.Â
The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Giridhar of the Eagle team stated at a press conference on Sunday that the six people who tested positive for drugs included former MLA Pilot Rohit Reddy, Eluru TDP MP Putta Mahesh Kumar Yadav, Ritesh Reddy, Namit, Kaushik Ravi, and Arjun Reddy.Â
According to the police, MP Putta Mahesh Kumar Yadav’s rapid drug test on Saturday night came back negative, but a subsequent blood test returned a positive result. Police also allege that an attempt was made to tamper with the sample during the test, which is also being investigated. Another shocking information has emerged during the investigation.
According to the police, during the party, a former Rajasthan MLA allegedly fired two rounds into the air from Rohit Reddy’s brother’s gun. Police heard the gunshots. A man named Namit was seen at the scene with the weapon, who has been initially identified as a Delhi resident. Police are now trying to determine who holds the weapon’s license and the circumstances under which the firing occurred. The police investigation has also revealed that the recovered cocaine was allegedly brought from Shimla. Investigating agencies are now investigating the drug supply network and who procured the drugs for the party.
Eagle Team SSP Giridhar stated clearly that no one will be spared in cases of drug use and trafficking. He added that if any MP or MLA is found to be involved, strict action will be taken against them as per the law.
Police are currently questioning all the accused and a detailed investigation is underway. This case has also created a stir in political circles, and more revelations are expected in the coming days.
