New Delhi, March 14: Amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia, the central government has stated that there is no shortage of LPG cylinders in the country. The government also said that people should avoid panic booking of LPG.

In a press conference at the National Media Center on Saturday, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary (Marketing and Oil Refinery), Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said that given the geographical situation, this remains a matter of concern for us. However, there is no news of stock depletion yet. She added that cases of LPG panic booking are very high. The figures shared on Friday, which were around 7.6 million, have now increased to around 8.8 million.

She said that people do not need to stand in line to book LPG cylinders. To raise awareness among consumers, oil companies have been ordered to encourage digital booking. There is no shortage of cylinders in the country. Gas cylinders will be available to consumers within the timeframe set by the government. Dealers will deliver the cylinders to their homes.

She said that to provide some relief to commercial LPG consumers, it has been decided to provide them with PNG connections. Additionally, on Friday, the Air Quality Management Commission in Delhi NCR allowed industries, hotels, restaurants, and other establishments in the NCR, including Delhi, to use coal and wood for one month.

She said that the government is conducting frequent raids and surprise inspections to prevent black marketing.
