New Delhi, March 9: On the first day of the second phase of the Budget Session, the Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned until Tuesday following uproar by the opposition.

The Presiding Chair Jagdambika Pal strongly rebuked the opposition members who were repeatedly disrupting the House proceedings.

The opposition MPs created a huge uproar today over the US-Israel and Iran wars. The opposition continued to demand a debate on the impact of the postwar situation in West Asia on India. The government stated that the opposition has brought a no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and we are ready to discuss it.

However, the opposition was demanding a discussion on the situation in West Asia, to which External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar responded in detail in the House.

Expressing displeasure over the opposition’s behavior, Presiding Speaker Jagadambika Pal said that running the House costs 1.5 crore rupees per hour. Every minute costs 2.5 lakh rupees. A daily expenditure of 9 crore rupees is incurred. Due to their irresponsible behavior, the opposition is wasting 9 crore rupees a day; this is public money.

Jagadambika Pal said that the country is seeing that the government wants to run the House, but you do not want to. This is irresponsible and immature behavior.

Presiding Chair Pal then tried to reason with the members who were disrupting the proceedings of the Lok Sabha, but when the disruption continued, the House adjourned until Tuesday.
