Lucknow, March 4: A young man was shot during Holi celebrations on Wednesday in the PGI police station area of โโLucknow, police informed.
According to the police, the shooter turned out to be a neighbor, who was taken into custody by the police. The injured youth was sent to the hospital for treatment.
The station house officer (SHO) Dhirendra Singh said that Ankit Verma, a resident of Rajiv Nagar, Ghosiana, worked as an online delivery agent. On the Wednesday afternoon, he was playing Holi with friends when his neighbor, Sumit Yadav, came and fired at Ankit. The bullet grazed his stomach. Other youths caught Sumit and handed him over to the police. The injured youth was sent to a private hospital for treatment.
According to the SHO, a preliminary investigation revealed that Ankit Verma was shot over an old rivalry. He was discharged after treatment. The injured man is currently in normal condition and out of danger. The police are investigating the case on the basis of the complaint filed by the family.
