Hathras, March 03: A double-decker bus collided with an Eco-van on the Yamuna Expressway in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, killing six passengers from Dholpur, Rajasthan, and leaving seven others injured.
The Superintendent of Police (SP) Chiranjeev Nath Sinha said that at around 4 am on Tuesday, at milestone 141 of the expressway, a private double-decker bus traveling from Delhi to Gorakhpur collided with an Eco-van car traveling ahead. All the people in the car were going from Delhi to Rajakhera, Dholpur, Rajasthan. Six people lost their lives in the accident. Four of them have been identified. The deceased were Dinesh, his wife Sunita, Vijay, and his wife Pinky Baghel. Two others have not been identified yet. All are said to be from Gangoli, Raja Kheda, Rajasthan.
The SP further apprised that Eco driver Virendra was also injured in the accident. Besides these, Manoj, Aryan, Anshu, deceased Vijay’s son Lakshya, daughter Prachi, and his sister-in-law Poonam Baghel, all from Raja Kheda, were injured. The injured have been admitted to hospitals in the Khandauli police station area, where they are undergoing treatment. The bodies have been sent to the district hospital for postmortem.
The Police say that preliminary investigations indicate the accident was caused by speeding and negligence. The bus driver is being questioned.
