Air India’s first Dubai–Delhi flight brings 149 ‘stranded’ citizens home

New Delhi, March 03: Amid the West Asia crisis, Air India, Indigo and SpiceJet have partially resumed their flights to help Indians stranded in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Tata-led Air India brought back 149 passengers stranded in Dubai under a special operation on Tuesday.

The Air India flight (AI 916D) arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) at 10:58 am today. This is the first flight of any Indian airline to bring back passengers during the current crisis in West Asia, carrying 149 passengers and 8 operating crew members.

According to the airline, these passengers with VT-EDC registration were stranded in Dubai due to the prevailing situation in the region.

A passenger on this Air India flight that arrived at Delhi Airport said that the situation there is quite normal, there is not much tension, but due to flight cancellations and other issues, people are facing financial impact. Living there is very expensive.

He urged the Dubai government to provide accommodation for tourists there. This passenger said that Air India guided us thoroughly and the government there is providing all possible help.
