Jammu, February 24: The Indian Army’s dog K-9 ‘Tyson’, a german shepherd, who took the first bullet while leading the troops during Operation Trashi-I in Kishtwar district, is now recovering fast.

The Tyson’s bravery played a key role in killing Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) commander Saifullah and two of his associates in a mud house (Dhok) located at the foot of a hill in Passerkut in the Chatru area on Sunday.

The Army’s White Knight Corps said that during the recent Operation Trashi-I in Kishtwar, attack dog ‘Tyson’ displayed exceptional courage by taking the first bullet while entering the terrorist hideout. Undeterred by his injuries, he charged forward and launched a fierce attack on the terrorists, forcing them to open fire, thus confirming their presence. The Army stated that Tyson’s fearlessness enabled the White Knight Corps, police, and CRPF personnel to accurately target and eliminate three Pakistan-backed terrorists.

The Army stated that despite being injured, Tyson, who remained energetic, alert, and rapidly recovering, exemplifies unwavering dedication to duty. After suffering a front leg injury, the K-9 soldier was helicoptered and admitted to a veterinary hospital.

The Lieutenant General P.K. Mishra, General Officer Commanding, White Knight Corps, visited Tyson at the veterinary hospital and assessed his medical condition. The Corps Commander interacted with the veterinary team and directed them to ensure the best possible care. He praised the role of the Army’s dog units in counter-terrorism operations.
