Lucknow, February 23: At least, five passengers were killed when a double-decker bus turned turtle on Monday evening in the Gosaiganj police station area of ​​Lucknow.
According to the police, around ten to twelve people were also injured in the accident. The bus was going to Darbhanga, Bihar.
Upon receiving information about the incident, all police officers reached the spot and started rescue operations. The police have not yet confirmed the number of dead. Efforts are being made to identify the deceased.
As per the police, initial probe has revealed that the double-decker bus was carrying passengers from Ludhiana to Darbhanga. The bus suddenly lost control and overturned on the road near Khema Khera village on the Purvanchal Expressway in the Gosaiganj police station area of ​​the district. Upon hearing the screams of the passengers, people nearby reached the spot and informed the police. After receiving information about the accident, the police reached the spot and with the help of local people, pulled out the injured trapped in the bus and took them to the hospital.
Station In-charge Brajesh Kumar Tripathi stated that four to five people are feared dead in the accident. In addition, 10 to 12 others sustained injuries and have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. Authorities are in the process of identifying the deceased, after which the exact toll will be confirmed.
Prima facie, driver’s negligence appears to be the cause of the accident, according to initial investigations.
