Bundelkhand Expressway tragedy: Bike rider returning from Delhi dies, brother Injured

Orai, February 23: A young man was killed and another seriously injured in a tragic road accident on the Bundelkhand Expressway late Sunday night in Jalaun Kotwali area of Uttar Pradesh, police confirmed.

Upon receiving information about the accident, police reached the spot, took possession of the bodies, and sent them for post-mortem.

Pushpendra Ahirwar, a 24-year-old resident of Panwadi, was returning home from Delhi on a bike with his 18-year-old cousin Aman. Both men were struck by an unknown vehicle in the Jalaun Kotwali area, falling on the road and suffering serious injuries. Police arrived at the scene and immediately rushed both injured to the hospital, where doctors declared Pushpendra dead. Aman is said to be in critical condition and is undergoing treatment.

Pushpendra’s uncle, Mangal, said that he lived in Delhi and worked as a mason to support his family. On Sunday, he was returning home on his bike from a wedding ceremony at a relative’s village when he met with the accident. The deceased’s father, Mahendra, mother, Sushila Devi, brother, Dharmesh, and sister are inconsolable.

Kotwali police station in-charge, Anand Singh, stated that the body was handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination on Monday. Police have launched a search for the unknown vehicle and are examining footage from CCTV cameras installed on the expressway to identify the suspect.
