UP State University (Amendment) Bill 2026 introduced in Assembly

Lucknow, 12 February: The State Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay introduced the Uttar Pradesh State Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2026, and the Uttar Pradesh State Universities (Second Amendment) Bill, 2026, during the 2026-27 budget session of the Legislative Assembly (the official process for introducing a bill in the Assembly).

Presenting both bills in the Assembly, the Higher Education Minister requested the House’s permission to introduce them. The proposal was put to a vote in the House, which approved the introduction of the bills by a majority.

Minister Yogendra Upadhyaya stated that the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is committed to making the higher education system more effective, transparent, and quality-oriented. These amendment bills will further strengthen the administrative and academic structures of universities, providing a better educational environment for students.
