ED raids the residence of British Maulana in Sant Kabir Nagar

Uttar Pradesh Sant Kabir Nagar, February 11: A team of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has raided the residence of Maulana Shamsul Huda, a British citizen, located in the Meat Mandi area of โ€‹โ€‹the Khalilabad police station in Sant Kabir Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh. A temporary residence in Mubarakpur, Azamgarh, was also raided.

Currently, the ED team is questioning family members inside the Meat Mandi residence. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel have been deployed outside the residence.

According to preliminary information, no one is being allowed inside the house due to security reasons. The team is questioning the Maulana’s wife and daughter-in-law, who are present at the house, while his son, Tausif Raza, is missing. However, no official statement has been issued in this matter.

The Superintendent of Police (SP) Sandeep Kumar Meena’s public relations officer stated that the operation began at 8 a.m. on Wednesday. Police have not been contacted, and the investigation team is continuing its work.

Maulana Shamsul Huda renounced Indian citizenship in 2013 and took British citizenship. He has been living in London since 2007. Despite this, official documents show him working as an assistant teacher at a madrasa in Azamgarh until 2017. During this period, it was also revealed that he received salary and pension benefits. The investigation uncovered numerous irregularities.

Maulana Shamsul Huda Khan is also accused of constructing a madrasa in Khalilabad and forming NGOs named “Kulliyatul Banaatir Rajabia Educational and Welfare Society” and “Raza Foundation,” raising large sums of foreign funds. The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and other investigative agencies are probing the case.
