Six killed in road accident on Yamuna Expressway near Mathur, CM Yogi expresses condolences

Mathura, 07 February: At least six passengers died on the spot and one was seriously injured in a road accident on the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. The accident occurred at around 2:45 am near Mile Stone 88 in the Surir police station area.

The Chief Minister has taken cognizance of the road accident. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased. He has directed officials to immediately reach the spot and expedite relief work.

The Surir police station in-charge Ajay Kumar said that passengers of a private bus going from Nangloi in Delhi to Rasulabad in Kanpur asked the driver to stop the bus for urination. The driver did not stop the bus in the green zone and parked the bus on the expressway itself. Passengers were urinating on the roadside after getting off the bus when a speeding container coming from behind first hit the bus and then crushed the passengers standing below. Sonu, a resident of Sarva Katra in Auraiya district, Devesh, a resident of Alewal in Basti district, Aslam, a resident of Ganesh Ka Purwa in Kannauj, Santosh, a resident of Prem Nagar in Delhi, and two other unidentified passengers died on the spot. Two of the deceased have not yet been identified.

He told that amar Dubey, a resident of Bela in Auraiya, was seriously injured in the accident and has been admitted to the hospital for treatment. According to eyewitnesses, the weather was clear and there was no fog at the time of the accident.

Surir Police Station in-charge Ajay Kumar said that the search for the container driver is ongoing.
