Student commits suicide by jumping from Bombay IIT hostel

Mumbai, February 4: A civil engineering student has committed suicide by jumping from the hostel of Bombay IIT in the Powai area. The Powai police station is investigating the incident.

A police officer investigating the case said on Wednesday that information was received early this morning that a student had jumped from the roof of the IIT Bombay hostel. Police arrived at the scene and immediately rushed the injured student, Naman Agarwal (21), to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead.

Investigation revealed that the student was a second-year civil engineering student and a resident of Pilani, Rajasthan. Powai police have registered the case as an accidental death report. No suicide note was found in the student’s room in the hostel.
