Mau, January 27: A young woman, a contract worker at the district urban development agency (DUDA) Mau, Uttar Pradesh, filed a case at Sarailalkhasni police station on January 23, alleging sexual harassment by a male colleague under the pretext of marriage. Police arrested the accused, Ankit Singh (a contract worker in the same department), and sent him to jail.
However, in this case, three people, including the BJP’s district vice president, went to the rape victim’s home and pressured her to reach a settlement. The woman has filed a case against all three.
The rape victim accused the BJP leaders of compelling her to reach a settlement. A video related to this has surfaced. The woman clearly stated that Ankit Singh should either marry her or go to jail. She will not compromise in any way in the case. Based on the victim’s complaint, the woman has filed a case against BJP vice presidents Santosh Singh, Himanshu Rai, and Kanhaiya Tiwari.
The Project Director Arvind Pandey stated that the accused was not an engineer in Doda, but worked as a Class IV contract employee. Ankit was responsible for investigating beneficiaries of the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme. He declined to comment on Ankit’s personal life.
The Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Anoop Kumar stated that a case was filed by the rape victim on January 23 following this, her colleague Ankit Singh was sent to jail, but yesterday the rape victim filed a case against three people for visiting her home and forcing her to settle the matter. This will be investigated and legal action will be taken.
