PM Modi pays obeisance at Somnath Temple, participates in ‘Omkar Japa’

Somnath, January 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Somnath on Saturday evening to participate in events organized as part of the Somnath Swabhiman Parv. He was warmly welcomed by the Chief Minister and other leaders. He then performed puja and abhishek at the Somnath Temple and participated in the Omkar Japa.

Prior to this, Prime Minister Modi arrived at the VVIP Guest House, where an important meeting of the Somnath Temple Trust was held under his chairmanship. After the meeting, Prime Minister Modi walked from Hamirji Circle to the Somnath Temple. He was given a grand welcome by saints and sages at the Digvijay Dwar. He then participated in the 72-hour Omkar Japa ritual. During this, Modi visited Lord Somnath and performed Jalabhishek. He then observed a grand drone show held in the temple complex. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi were also present with him.

Upon arriving at Somnath, Prime Minister Modi wrote in an Instagram post, “I feel blessed to be in Somnath, a glorious symbol of our civilizational courage. This visit coincides with the Somnath Swabhiman Parv, when the entire country comes together to commemorate the thousandth anniversary of the first attack on the Somnath Temple in 1026. I am grateful for the warm welcome.”

In his second Instagram post, PM Modi wrote, “This evening in Somnath, I chaired a meeting of the Shri Somnath Trust. The meeting reviewed various aspects related to infrastructure upgrades in the temple complex and ways to make the pilgrimage to Somnath even more memorable. It

is noteworthy that special cultural performances are being presented at this festival, organized to mark the historic 1000th anniversary of Ghaznavi’s invasion and the 75th anniversary of the temple’s consecration.” From little girls to elderly women, 100 Ahirranis presented the pride of culture in traditional costumes and to the tunes of folk music.
