Every mafia in UP has links with the Samajwadi Party: CM Yogi

Lucknow, December 19: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today made another serious allegation against the Samajwadi Party (SP) regarding the codeine syrup case.

Yogi said that everyone knows that every mafia has links with the Samajwadi Party.

Speaking to reporters at the media center in the Vidhan Bhavan before the start of the assembly proceedings on Friday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the investigation into the cough syrup case is in progress. All those arrested so far have links with the Samajwadi Party. The Chief Minister said, “Let the investigation continue, and the truth will come out.”

Regarding the SP’s opposition to the codeine cough syrup case, Chief Minister Yogi said that the drug is covered under the National Drug Controller General (NTPC). Codeine is used for colds and coughs. The Central Narcotics Bureau distributes it, but this cough syrup was being used as a drug in many places. There were complaints of its illegal smuggling. Following the complaints, our government took action. This action is being carried out by the UP government, UP police and FSDA.

He informed that smugglers have been caught from many places. Every mafia has links with the Samajwadi Party. This has come to light in the preliminary investigation. Those caught by the STF have links with the SP. The state-level SIT is monitoring this case. Illegal smuggling and related important aspects will be investigated. Who has received the money? Our leaders will answer on the issue of codeine cough syrup, both in the House and outside. One of our MLAs has passed away. Therefore, after expressing condolences today, the Assembly will not function. Our leaders will answer on this in the Legislative Council. We will take strict action in this matter.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took a dig at Akhilesh Yadav’s aggressive attitude in the codeine cough syrup case by reciting a couplet from Ghalib. He said, “Throughout his life, Ghalib kept making the same mistake; there was dust on his face, but he kept cleaning the mirror.”

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the Assembly session is starting today. We welcome all the participants. This time, Vande Mataram will be discussed. We wanted the session to last longer, but on the request of public representatives, it has been limited. They said that the SIR work is ongoing. He wants to play an important role in that work. The session will continue till December 24.

Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya, Brijesh Pathak, Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna were also present with the Chief Minister.
