DGCA cuts IndiGo’s winter flight services by 5%

New Delhi, December 09: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has decided to cut IndiGo airline’s winter flights by 5%. This cut will result in the reduction of around 110 flights of the airline daily. IndiGo, the country’s largest airline company, operates around 2,200 flights daily.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued an order in this regard on Tuesday, saying that after massive flight disruptions since December 1, the flight services of private sector airline IndiGo have been cut by 5%. IndiGo’s flights across all sectors have been cut. Along with this, the airline has also been directed to submit a revised schedule to the DGCA by 5 pm on Wednesday.

The official notice issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to IndiGo stated that the airline was approved for 15,014 departures per week and a total of 64,346 flights for November under the winter schedule. However, operational data shows that IndiGo was able to operate only 59,438 flights. The airline cancelled 951 flights in November.

Earlier, Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu had said on Monday that the government would reduce IndiGo’s flights under the current winter schedule. The airline is operating over 2,200 flights daily under the winter schedule for FY 2025-26.
