Banda, Uttar Pradesh: A dispute arose between a husband and wife over the demand for food. The dispute escalated to the point where the wife slit the husband’s throat with a knife, leaving him seriously injured., police said.

Upon receiving the information, the brother-in-law and mother-in-law arrived at the scene and beat the injured man’s father and mother. The wife fled with cash and a mobile phone. The injured man has been admitted to the district hospital.
According to the police, Balram, 28, son of Bachchi, a resident of Ghuri village in the Bisanda police station area, is a laborer. He had gone out to work. Returning home in the evening, he asked his wife, Gudiya, for food. Gudiya refused to serve him food, telling him to eat it himself. This sparked a heated argument between the husband and wife. The wife threw Balram to the ground and slit his throat with a knife, leaving him bleeding and writhing in pain. Hearing the noise, people from the vicinity reached the spot. He was admitted to PHC Binsda.
Police further apprised that meanwhile, wife Gudiya informed her mother Rekha and brothers Ramakant and Dhanraj about the incident. After receiving the information, all three reached the spot. The three also beat up and injured the father and mother Maya of the injured Balram. Balram said that after taking Rs. 10,000 cash and mobile phone kept in the house, Gudiya locked the house where she lived and went to her maternal home. The injured has given a written complaint to the police regarding the matter.
Station House Officer (SHO) Rammohan Rai said on Sunday that a report has been registered against Gudiya, her mother Rekha, both brothers Ramakant and Dhanraj.
