Lucknow/Varanasi, 28 November: In the case registered so far by the Food Safety and Drug Administration (Uttar Pradesh) on the illegal trade of cough syrup containing codeine and narcotics category medicines, licenses of 87 firms have been suspended.
In the investigation started after the death of children in two states due to drinking cough syrup containing codeine, maximum FIRs were registered against 28 firms in Varanasi. In this, FIRs are registered against 12 firms in Jaunpur. The total number of actions taken against firms of Varanasi, Jaunpur, Kanpur, Lucknow, Sultanpur, Chandauli, Bahraich, Ghazipur is 87. In which FIRs and cancellation action have been taken against these firms.
According to the Food Safety and Drug Administration, Uttar Pradesh, FIR has been registered against Prashant Upadhyay’s firm Radhika Enprise, Akash Pathak’s Med Remedy, Amit Jaiswal’s Shri Hari Pharma, Vishal Sonkar’s Vishwanath Medical Agency, Sachin Pandey’s Saumya Medical Agency, Ghanshyam’s Shriram Pharma, Abhinav Yadav’s Khatu Pharma, Badal Arya’s Kaal Bhairav โโTraders, Sachin Yadav’s Vindhyavasini Traders, Rahul Jaiswal’s Shyam Pharma, etc., which are known as big firms in Varanasi, in the case of cough syrup containing codeine and their license has been suspended.
