Over dozen workers buried in a landslide in a mining area in Sonbhadra, admin steps up rescue ops

Sonbhadra: A major accident occurred on Saturday in the Billi Markundi mining area of ​​the Obra police station area of ​​Sonbhadra district in Uttar Pradesh.

This afternoon, a large portion of a hill suddenly collapsed in a stone quarry, burying more than a dozen workers. A district administration team has been deployed to rescue the trapped workers.

The District Magistrate (DM) B.N. Singh stated on Saturday that a portion of the hill at Krishna Mines in Billi Markundi has collapsed, trapping some workers there.

He stated that efforts are being made to rescue the trapped workers with the assistance of Ultratech, Dusan, Obra Power Company, and others. In addition, the NDRF and the SDRF teams have departed from Mirzapur.

The DM stated that the number of people buried in the accident is still unknown. Relief work and efforts to rescue the trapped people are underway at the site. 

Chhotu, a worker at the mine, said that two of his brothers, Santosh and Indrajit, are also buried under the debris. Chhotu said that more than a dozen people were working in the mining area. Suddenly, a part of the hill collapsed, and all the workers were buried under the debris.
