New Delhi, November 12: The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday expressed deep condolences over the car bomb blast that occurred near the Red Fort in Delhi on the evening of November 10, terming it a heinous terrorist act.
Giving details of the Cabinet decisions here, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that at the beginning of the meeting, the Cabinet observed a two-minute silence to pay tribute to the innocent people who lost their lives in this terrorist incident.
Ashwini Vaishnaw said that India has an unwavering commitment to the policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. The Cabinet also expressed its appreciation for the solidarity and support expressed by many governments around the world. The Cabinet commended the timely and coordinated response of the officials, security agencies, and citizens who acted with courage and compassion under adverse circumstances.
In its resolution, the Cabinet said that the nation has witnessed a heinous terrorist incident, perpetrated by anti-national forces. The explosion resulted in the death of several people and injuries. The Cabinet expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
The resolution stated that the government strongly condemns this barbaric and cowardly act and reiterates its zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. The Cabinet also expressed gratitude for the solidarity and support expressed by many countries around the world during this difficult time.
During the meeting, the Cabinet commended the prompt response of emergency services, medical personnel, and security agencies, who acted with courage and sensitivity in this hour of crisis.
The Cabinet directed that the incident be investigated with utmost urgency and professionalism so that the perpetrators, accomplices, and sponsors are swiftly identified and brought to justice.
