Lucknow, November 12: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attended the reception ceremony for the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup trophy to be held in Tamil Nadu at the Chief Minister’s residence at 5 Kalidas Marg on Wednesday.
Sports Minister Girish Chandra Yadav welcomed the Chief Minister with a bouquet of flowers.
At the event, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Uttar Pradesh’s contribution to the Hockey India is unforgettable. The arrival of the trophy in Uttar Pradesh is a day that reminds us of Uttar Pradesh’s golden history. Hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand was born on this land of Uttar Pradesh. Under his leadership, India won gold medals in three Olympics. To commemorate the memory of Major Dhyan Chand, the state government is building the Major Dhyan Chand Sports University in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The first session of which has begun this year.
CM Yogi added that along with this, the famous Indian hockey player KD Singh Babu was also born in Uttar Pradesh. To keep his memories alive, the state government is taking steps to convert his ancestral home in Barabanki into a museum. Many such hockey players of Uttar Pradesh like Ashok Kumar, Ravindra Pal, Dr RP Singh, Abdul Aziz, Pushpa Srivastava, Vandana Kataria have brought glory to the state and the country. Currently, many hockey players are making the state proud.
