Joint team of Delhi, Haryana and J&K police arrests 7 terrorists with over 2900 kg of explosives, Lucknow female doctor also on police radar: Faridabad Police

Faridabad, November 10: In a joint operation of Delhi, Haryana and Jammu-Kashmir police, the conspiracy of a major terrorist attacks were foiled by arresting seven terrorists. The arrested terrorists were active at different places. So far, more than 2900 kg of explosive material has been recovered from the arrested terrorists. The terrorist had made a store of weapons and explosives by renting a room from an Imam, a resident of Dhauj village in Faridabad district.

Police Commissioner Satyendra Kumar Gupta said in a press conference on Monday that the arrested accused have been identified as Arif Nisar alias Sahil, resident of Nowgam, Srinagar; Yasir-ul-Ashraf, resident of Nowgam, Srinagar; Maqsood Ahmed Dar alias Shahid, resident of Nowgam, Srinagar; Maulvi Irfan Ahmed, resident of Shopian; Jamir Ahmed Ahangar alias Mutlasha, resident of Wakura, Ganderbal; Dr Muzammil Shakeel Ganai alias Musaib, resident of Koil, Pulwama; and Dr Adil Ahmed, resident of Wanpora, Kulgam.

In addition, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have also detained a female doctor, Shaheen Shahid, from Lucknow. Shaheen is a friend of Dr Muzammil Shakeel. Muzammil used Dr. Shaheen’s car. Police have not yet officially arrested the woman.

According to a police spokesperson, through interrogation of the accused, and technical assistance, a joint operation by Faridabad and Jammu and Kashmir police teams on November 8 recovered a Krinkov assault rifle, three magazines, 83 live rounds, a pistol, eight live rounds, and two magazines. Subsequently, on November 9, approximately 358 kilograms of explosives/flammables (ammonia and nitrate) and other materials for making IEDs, including chemicals, flammables, electrical circuits, batteries, wires, remote controls, timers, and metal seats, were recovered from a room on Fatehpur Taga Road in Dhauj village.

He further stated that on Monday, a joint operation by Faridabad and Jammu and Kashmir police teams recovered approximately 2,563 kilograms of explosives/flammables from Dahar Colony in Fatehpur Taga village. Thus, the team has recovered over 2,900 kilograms of explosives/flammables to date.

It was reported that the house from which these items were recovered belongs to an Imam living in Dhauj village in Faridabad district, Haryana. Muzammil used to visit him frequently. During a search operation in Fatehpur Taga, police found 2563 kilograms of explosives. These explosives were packed in 50 sacks. The house from which the police team recovered these explosives belonged to Irfan, the mosque’s Imam. He had purchased the house from him four years ago. He had rented it out to a family. This week, the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Faridabad, near Delhi, and the Gujarat Police’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in Hyderabad arrested doctors, thwarting two terrorist attacks.

In the first case, two doctors, Adil Ahmed and Muzammil Shakeel, were arrested and a large quantity of ammonium nitrate, an explosive agent, along with detonators and some ammunition, and two assault rifles were recovered from them. Investigating officers are also probing the role of a third doctor, a woman, whose car was found to contain two guns and ammunition.

In the second case, Dr Ahmed Mohiuddin Syed, who claimed to have a medical degree from China, was arrested with three pistols and 30 bullets. The Gujarat Police Anti-Terrorism Squad also recovered four liters of castor oil, which is used to make a powerful poison called ricin. Both cases have alerted the country’s intelligence and security agencies, especially after officials discovered that Syed had links to the Islamic State-Khorasan Province, a regional branch of the larger ISIS organization that has been linked to numerous mass casualty incidents. Sunday night, a team of the Jammu and Kashmir Police recovered 350 kilograms of ammonium nitrate. It is an odorless, white chemical that can cause a massive explosion under the right conditions. The seizure was made based on intelligence provided by a Kashmiri doctor named Rathar, who was arrested in Srinagar for pasting posters in support of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), another Pakistan-based terrorist group. Rathar worked at the Government Medical College in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, until last year.

The Police said an assault rifle was recovered from his locker at the college.
