Hapur, November 10: An encounter broke out late Sunday night between the police and a cow smuggler in a car in the Kapurpur police station area of โโHapur district in Uttar Pradesh in which the police gunned down the criminal carrying a 50,000 bounty. The accused had more than 24 criminal cases registered against him, police apprised.
The Superintendent of Police (SP) Kunwar Gyanendra Singh said on Monday that late Sunday night, the police received information that the cow smuggler was collecting and transporting prohibited animals for the purpose of cow slaughter. Acting swiftly on this information, Kapurpur police immediately reached the spot and surrounded the criminals. When the criminal in the car, seeing himself surrounded, started firing at the police with the intention of killing them. In the police’s retaliatory action, the criminal was injured by a bullet and was sent to CSC Dhaulana for treatment. From there, he was referred to a higher center, where doctors declared him dead.
The SP said that the criminal has been identified as Haseen, a resident of Mainota village in Sambhal district. More than 24 cases of serious crimes like cow slaughter, attempt to murder and Gangster Act etc. are registered against him in Hapur, Muzaffarnagar, Sambhal, Amroha and Gautam Buddh Nagar districts. He was a history-sheeter of Ammoli police station. He was wanted in the Cow Slaughter Prevention Act registered in Kapurpur police station, for whose arrest a reward of 50 thousand rupees was announced.
