Shamli, October 24: Faisal, a sharpshooter of Mukhtar Ansari’s gang from Purvanchal and Sanjeev Jiva’s gang from Western UP has been gunned down in the Shamli police encounter on Thursday night, police said.
He had more than 24 serious cases registered against him, including robberies and murders. The other criminal escaped from the scene. Faisal had killed a man named Asif Zada ββin police custody at the railway station in Muzaffarnagar. An SOG police constable was also seriously injured in the encounter. Police also recovered an automatic pistol from the criminal.
Superintendent of Police (SP) NP Singh said that last night, Jeetram, a resident of Barnavi village in the Kairana police station area, was traveling to his village on the Meerut-Karnal highway. Near Vedkhedi village, two bike-borne criminals robbed him of his bike, three thousand rupees, and mobile phone at gunpoint. The Special Operations Group (SOG), surveillance, and police station were deployed to arrest the criminals. Police were conducting a checkpoint near Bhogi Majra village on the Oona-Chausana road. When the police signaled a biker to stop, the criminals opened fire. In retaliation, one criminal was injured. SOG constable Deepak was also injured in the firing. Upon arrival at the hospital, doctors declared a criminal dead. The constable has been admitted to the district hospital.
Singh stated that the slain criminal was identified as Faisal, a resident of Khalapar, Muzaffarnagar. He was originally from Lisadi Gate, Meerut, and was living in Khalapar. He carried a reward of 1 lakh rupees on his head. He was a sharpshooter for Sanjeev Jiva Rai, a notorious criminal from western Uttar Pradesh, and the Mukhtar Ansari gang of Purvanchal. The slain criminal had approximately 24 cases registered against him, including robbery, murder, and extortion. He was wanted for a murder in Mangalaura, Shamli, and for the theft of earrings from a woman. Police recovered two bikes, two 32-bore pistols, and live cartridges from the criminal.
