New Delhi, October 21: In an unprecedented move focussing on women’s empowerment, Lucknow City Railway Station has become North India’s first all-women staffed station.

The Railways has described it as a living symbol of progress, pride, and the invincible power of women empowerment. With this bold transformation, the station will not only continue to connect cities, but will also connect the entire country with a vision of equality, opportunity, and respect.
A release stated that every function at this busy station, from the control room to the ticket window, from security patrols to the signal cabin, is now in the hands of a 34-member all-women team.
Announced by the North Eastern Railway, this initiative demonstrates what “women power” looks like in its work—capable, committed, and inspiring. It will help create safe, inclusive, and inspiring spaces.
This diverse team, drawn from across India, reflects the unity and strength of women in the workforce, the release said. It embodies the spirit of “Nari Shakti – Rashtra Shakti.”
