New Delhi, October 19: Ahead of two big Hindu festivals Diwali and Chhath, the Delhi railway stations are witnessing heavy rush of passengers. The capital’s Anand Vihar, New Delhi, Sarai Rohilla, and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations are overflowing with passengers heading home to meet their dear ones.
Long queues have formed at platforms and ticket counters since morning. Due to lack of seats on trains, many passengers are forced to travel on waiting lists.
According to railway officials, reservations for trains to the east and Bihar are full. Images from Anand Vihar railway station show heavy crowds, with passengers waiting for trains with their families. The railways has started operating several special trains in anticipation of the festivals to facilitate passengers’ journey home.
