Lucknow, October 7: Under the Mission Shakti 5.0 campaign of the Yogi government, a special campaign has been launched to remove black films from vehicles to provide a safe environment to women and daughters. This campaign was launched from September 22 across the state, which is currently in progress. Over eight and a half lakh vehicles were checked from September 22 to October 1.

ADG Padmaja Chauhan, nodal officer for the Mission Shakti 5.0 campaign, stated that as part of the campaign, police officers inspected vehicles on the road. A special drive was launched to remove black films from vehicles. During this period, 24,457 police officers and staff checked 850,182 vehicles at 71,473 locations. So far, 9,488 black films have been removed. In addition, 2,817 horns and 1,087 lights have also been removed. This step was taken to prevent street crimes and ensure a safe environment for women.
ADG apprised that additionally, 18,215 challans were issued against vehicles parked in the wrong places to ensure compliance with traffic rules and avoid any road chaos. To ensure women’s safety, strict action was taken against the use of government and caste-related words on vehicles, and 14,504 such cases were reported. During the campaign, 338,305 individuals were warned.
ADG Chauhan stated that 1,93,829 vehicles were challaned for violating traffic rules, and 3,654 vehicles were also seized. A total of 251 cases were registered, and 450 people were arrested for violating traffic rules. Strict action was also taken against bikers displaying dangerous stunts on the roads. During this period, 5,26,184 vehicles were checked by 21,324 police officers and personnel at 55,832 locations. During the campaign, 770 stuntman cases were registered, and 263 stuntmen were arrested.
She added additionally, 31,609 vehicles were challaned and 1,388 vehicles were seized. As part of the Mission Shakti 5.0 campaign, the police department also conducted foot patrols to ensure a safe environment for women in public spaces. Through this initiative, the police department has ensured its deployment to ensure women feel safe. Foot patrolling was done at 57,265 places in the state.
ADG concluded by stating that in this, foot patrolling was done at 239 places by Additional Director General of Police, Director General of Police, Deputy Inspector General, at 1,670 places by Police Commissioner, Senior Superintendent of Police, Superintendent of Police, at 9,616 places by Additional Superintendent of Police, Circle Officer and at 45,837 places by Police Station Incharge along with his team. During foot patrolling, 7,44,482 persons were checked while PRV patrolled 52,039 places.
