New Delhi, October 3: India on Thursday rejected the statement of Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Home Affairs Advisor to the Bangladesh interim government, and advised the neighboring country to seriously investigate the violence by extremists in its territory. India said that the interim government has failed to maintain law and order.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in the weekly press conference on Friday that we completely reject these false and baseless allegations. The interim government is unable to maintain law and order in Bangladesh. Therefore, it continuously tries to shift the blame.
He said that it would be better for the Bangladesh government to introspect and seriously investigate the actions of local extremists who have been carrying out violence, arson, and land grabbing against minority communities in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
It is noteworthy that Jahangir Alam Chowdhury had claimed that elements supporting the Indian government and former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina were fomenting unrest in the hill region. He also alleged a conspiracy to create trouble during the Durga Puja festival.
