New Delhi, September 30: Former Congress President and Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, expressing the pain of the father of soldier Tsewang Tharchin, who was killed in the Ladakh violence, has demanded a judicial inquiry from the central government into the matter.
He said that the way a patriotic soldier was killed in Ladakh is not only tragic but also an attack on democratic values.
On Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi shared a video of Tsewang Thachin’s father on Twitter, saying that the father was a soldier, the son was also a soldier, patriotism runs in their blood. Yet, this brave son of the country was shot and killed, only because he stood up for Ladakh and his rights.
Gandhi demanded from the central government that there should be an impartial judicial inquiry into this incident and the culprits should be given severe punishment.
In the video, the father of the deceased Tsewang Thachin said that what does a police officer or superintendent of police think when his child dies? When a local or poor person’s child dies, does it hold the same significance? They find it easier to kill the poor, don’t they? Can they endure the same fate if their own child cries? We know everything. I myself have served for 32 years and have served in difficult places. I have served four times in areas where five countries border each other: India, China, Pakistan, Russia, and Afghanistan. I have served in these places, where temperatures can drop to minus 35 degrees and there was not even drinking water. We would break and melt ice to cook food and take care of our health. I have worked in such difficult conditions. And what do these people know?
