Moradabad, September 17: Five cattle smugglers have been arrested in two different encounters with the Moradabad police late Tuesday night. Four of these accused were injured by bullets in the leg and have been admitted to the district hospital, police said.
The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Satpal Antil said that police teams are continuously active in searching for the accused wanted in the killing of bovine animals. Late Tuesday night at around 1 am, police teams from two police stations were on patrol in the Pakbara police station area and the Bhojpur police station area. During this time, some suspicious people were seen in both the police station areas and when an attempt was made to stop them, they opened fire at the police team. In self-defense, two accused were injured in the leg by police retaliation. They were arrested by the police. One accused was arrested during a checking operation in the Bhojpur police station area. All of them purchase prohibited bovine animals, slaughter them, and then dispose of their remains in various ways.
The SSP further stated that Saddam and Kallu, accused of killing bovine animals, were arrested in a police encounter in the Pakbara police station area. Both accused were injured by bullets in the leg and have been admitted to the district hospital. Additionally, Saddam and Noor Mohammad, accused of cow slaughter in the Bhojpur police station area, were arrested in a police encounter. Both accused were also injured by bullets in the leg and have been admitted to the district hospital.
The Senior Superintendent of Police also stated that during a checking operation in the Bhojpur police station area, Hasnain, who was involved in the killing and smuggling of bovine animals, was arrested. These five accused confessed during police interrogation that they had been carrying out cow slaughter for a long time.
Senior Superintendent of Police Satpal Antil, Superintendent of Police Nagar Kumar Ranvijay Singh, Circle Officer Kuldeep Gupta of the Civil Lines Circle, and various other police officers arrived at the district hospital and questioned the injured accused.
