New Delhi, 04 September: Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with National Award winning teachers at his residence 7 Lok Kalyan Marg on Thursday.
Prime Minister said that the work of teachers is not limited to the classroom but goes beyond that to build character and give direction to the curiosity of youth power. He said that teachers are the foundation of a strong country and a strong society.
Prime Minister said that imparting education is no less than any other service in the field of service to the nation. Today India is moving with the goal of building a developed India. In this, the Guru-Shishya tradition is a great strength for us. Teachers are the foundation of a strong country and a strong society.
He said that a teacher not only shapes the present but also the future generation of the country and improves the future.
On this occasion, he emphasized on a question for the students and the young generation of the country and said that it needs to be promoted and propagated in today’s time. He said that students should hold this question that “What should I do so that some need of my country is fulfilled.”
During this, the Prime Minister specifically mentioned the reduction in the Goods and Services Tax and said that this has added five new gems to India’s magnificent economy. First, this has made the tax system much simpler. Second, this will increase the quality of life of the citizens of India. Third, this will give new energy to both consumption and development. Fourth, this will make it easier to do business, which will increase investment and jobs in the future. Fifth, this will strengthen cooperative federalism for developed India.
Prime Minister said that the aim of our government is to increase the savings in the lives of common people and make their lives better. He also assured the countrymen that today the process of reforms to make the country self-reliant is not going to stop. For us, ‘self-reliance’ is not a slogan but a concrete effort.
Modi said that today the country has a government with political will power, such a government cares about the bright future of the country and the future of children. We brought laws regarding online gaming regardless of any pressure.
He said, “In the 21st century, next generation reform has also been done in GST in India, GST 2.0 is a double dose of support and development for the country.”
Prime Minister said that now GST has become much simpler and only two rates of 5 percent and 18 percent are left. The new rates of GST will be implemented from 22 September i.e. the first day of Navratri. This will make this Dhanteras even more vibrant. Tax has been reduced on dozens of things. After the implementation of GST 8 years ago, the dream of many decades came true. GST was one of the biggest economic reforms of independent India.
Prime Minister also targeted Congress on GST and said that before he became the Prime Minister in 2014, different taxes were levied on many things like kitchen, agriculture, medicine and even life insurance. In that era, 20 to 25 rupees tax had to be paid on goods worth hundred rupees.
