Barabanki CO City removed, inspector and Chowki Incharge suspended for baton charge on ABVP workers, LLB students

Lucknow, 02 September: In the case of chasing and beating the LLB students in Ramswaroop Memorial University (RMU) in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday, Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Krishna has removed CO City Harshit Chauhan while Inspector RK Rana of Nagar Kotwali as well as Gadiya Chowki Incharge have been suspended. Also, an investigation of the entire case has been handed over to IG Ayodhya Range Praveen Kumar.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of the case of chasing and beating LLB students and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) workers who were protesting in RN University on Monday. He has ordered an investigation into the entire matter.

In this case, commissioner Ayodhya has been instructed to probe the validity of the degree and provide his report to the government. The investigation of the lathi charge case has been given to IG Ayodhya Range Praveen Kumar.

On the other hand, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), angry with this incident, gheraoed the Vidhan Sabha in the capital Lucknow on Tuesday and raised slogans. When the police tried to remove them, they sat on the road. After this, the police loaded everyone into a van and took them to Eco Garden.

It is worth mentioning that on Monday, students and the ABVP workers were protesting peacefully for the recognition of LLB. It is alleged that during this time, the police resorted to lathicharge in which more than 25 students were injured. Some of them had to be referred to Lucknow for treatment as their condition was serious.
