Lucknow, August 29: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday laid the foundation stone of the modern office building of the Uttar Pradesh State Election Commission in Avadh Vihar Yojana. This building, to be built at a cost of about 50 crores, will be spread over an area of ​​2618.59 square meters and will have a total of six floors including stilt floor. Keeping in mind the security and convenience of the building, an RCC tank of 25,000 liters capacity will be installed on the roof and an underground tank of one lakh liters capacity at the underground level.

Addressing the program, the Chief Minister said that this building will give new strength to the transparent and well-organized election system and will make the democratic process more powerful. The public is not only the public for us but Janardan. He also said that India is the largest democracy in the world because of Uttar Pradesh.

In his address, Chief Minister Yogi said that the State Election Commission having its own building is a historic step towards strengthening democracy.

He said that the Commission will now be able to conduct the huge process of Panchayat and local body elections in Uttar Pradesh in a better way. The Chief Minister said that in the three-tier Panchayat system alone, more than 12 crore voters participate in voting, which is more than the total population of any other state.

Uttar Pradesh currently has 57,600 gram panchayats, 826 area panchayats and 75 district panchayats. At the same time, there are also 17 municipal corporations, 199 municipalities and 544 Nagar Panchayats, along with which the State Election Commission also bears the responsibility of electing more than 14,000 councilors.

Chief Minister said that when India is called the largest democracy in the world, then this extensive electoral process of Uttar Pradesh plays an important role in it.

Yogi Adityanath, while highlighting the power of democracy, said that the public is not only the voter but also the Janardan of the democratic system. Listening to their voice and giving importance is the responsibility of the public representatives. If a public representative ignores the expectations of the public, then after five years the public rejects him. This is the biggest power of democracy and this system has made India stand as a strong nation.

Chief Minister said that the target has been set to make India a developed nation by the year 2047 and for this, a developed Uttar Pradesh is needed. He said that the strengthening of democratic institutions and the electoral system is the biggest guarantee in this direction.

He said that till now the State Election Commission was working from a rented building, due to which many difficulties were faced but now with the construction of the new building, the Commission will get more speed in its work.

Chief Minister expressed confidence that the State Construction Corporation will complete the construction of this six-storey modern building in less than 18 months. After this, Uttar Pradesh will be included in the select states of the country which will have the Election Commission’s own building.

These facilities will be available in the new building Talking about the features of the building, road pathway, open parking and rain water harvesting facilities will be available in the campus. A sewage treatment plant (STP) of 25 KLD capacity will be installed. There will be CCTV system for security in the entire building. For the convenience of employees and visitors, two lifts with 13 passenger capacity and one lift with 8 passenger capacity will be installed. Along with this, state-of-the-art arrangements of internal electrification and power wiring will also be made. This building will not only speed up the work of the Election Commission but will also set an example as a model office by being equipped with technology and facilities.

On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar, State Election Commissioner Rajan Pratap Singh, Chairperson of UP Women Commission, Chairperson of SC-ST Commission, officials of Panchayati Raj Commission and other dignitaries were present.
