New Delhi, August 19: India has clarified its position on the claims related to the statement issued by China on Taiwan at the Foreign Minister level talks. India has said that there has been no change in its position on Taiwan.
Sources said that we emphasized that like the rest of the world, India also has relations with Taiwan focused on economic, technical and cultural relations. We want to continue this.
It is noteworthy that China had said that External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr S. Jaishankar has supported China’s claim on Taiwan.
Bilateral talks were held between External Affairs Minister Jaishankar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in New Delhi on Monday.
Sources also say that China has assured India of meeting its necessary commercial needs. China has promised to address India’s three major concerns. Foreign Minister Wang Yi assured his Indian counterpart Jaishankar that China is taking care of India’s needs for fertilizers, rare minerals and tunnel boring machines.
