Anantapur, August 16: The Sri Sathya Sai Anantapur District Police in Andhra Pradesh has arrested a person linked to terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). He has been identified as Noor Mohammad (40). Police have registered a case of treason against the accused. Police may present him in court tonight, police informed.
Noor Mohammad, who has been caught by the police, is originally from Dharmavaram. A team of local police, National Investigation Agency (INA) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) has arrested him from Dharmavaram itself. Police have identified Noor as a key member of about 29 terrorist groups associated with the Jaish-e-Mohammed organization. Initial investigation by the police has revealed that Noor used to incite Muslim youth in India to turn towards terrorism.

According to the police, when the NIA raided Noor Mohammad’s house in Kota area of Dharmavaram, it was found that he works as a cook in a hotel. NIA officials also searched Noor’s house and seized 16 SIM cards from there.
IB officials said that he is a member of WhatsApp groups of terrorist organizations banned in India. He used to talk to Jaish-e-Mohammed and people in Pakistan through online calls. Also, officials have identified students in Andhra Pradesh who have links with the terrorist organization Islamic Movement of India (IMI).
IB officials said that intelligence agencies have identified ten suspects in Andhra Pradesh. Four have been identified in Vijayawada and six others in the suburbs. They said that they used to work as AC mechanics and some used to beg near mosques, work in huts and work for SIMI. These suspects, while supporting the terrorist organisation for more than 30 years, evaded police surveillance by behaving like common people and making their hideouts in small suburbs.
Sri Sathya Sai Anantapur Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Narasimhappa said, “We found out that Noor Mohammad is a member of a banned terrorist group. We have seized some SIM cards. We are questioning him.”
He said that Noor’s links with Jaish-e-Mohammed organization are being investigated in more detail. Because he is a member of WhatsApp groups related to Jaish-e-Mohammed organization. Investigation has revealed that Noor has made such comments in WhatsApp groups, which have attracted youth towards terrorism.
