IIT Kanpur Professor appointed as 29th Vice Chancellor of BHU

Varanasi, July 31: The President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi as the new Vice Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University (BHU).

Prof Chaturvedi is a professor at IIT Kanpur and he will be the 29th Vice Chancellor of BHU. His appointment will be effective for a period of three years from the date of assuming office or till he attains the age of 70 years (whichever is earlier).

An official letter addressed to the Registrar of BHU has been issued from the Union Ministry of Education regarding the appointment of Prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi as the new Vice Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University (BHU).

Prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi is an experienced educationist and administrator. He has previously been the Director of IIT Roorkee, as well as worked as Dean and Deputy Director at IIT Kanpur. His academic contributions have been remarkable, especially in the field of waveform shaping, sequence design and MIMO systems.

Prof Chaturvedi has an old relationship with BHU

He has been a professor in the Electronics Engineering Department of IIT BHU during the year 1994 to 1996. He will definitely benefit from this prior experience during his tenure as the Vice Chancellor of BHU. Prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi has done PhD, Electrical Engineering, IIT Kanpur in the year 1995, M Tech, Electrical Engineering, IIT Kanpur in the year 1988, B Tech, Electrical Engineering, IIT Kanpur in the year 1986.

Prof Chaturvedi has received the INSA Teachers Award, Distinguished Teacher Award of IIT Kanpur and Tan Chin Tuan Fellowship of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He is also a founding member of the Telecom Standards Development Society of India.
