Lucknow, June 27: The Lucknow Police on Friday revealed the murder of businessman Umashankar Singh, who lived in a rented house in Arjunganj Enclave Phase 2, located in Gudamba police station area. The murder took place over financial transactions. Police arrested four accused and recovered the weapon used in the murder from them.
DCP East Shashank Singh said that contractor Umashankar Singh, originally from Sultanpur district, lived in a rented house in Arjunganj Enclave Phase 2, located on Kursi Road. His body was found on the bed on June 24. Police reached on the information of the working girl and investigated. On the complaint of Umashankar’s wife Mamta Singh, police registered a case and started investigation.
Police station in-charge Prabhatesh Kumar Srivastava said that with the help of surveillance cell and crime team, they started revealing the murder incident. Based on the inputs received during the investigation, the police arrested Sanjay Chauhan, a resident of Sultanpur, his brother Shiva Singh alias Shivram Singh, Kavindan Singh alias Chhotu, a resident of Pratapgarh and his brother Abhinandan Singh. Two axes, a twig and a blood-stained kurta used in the murder were found in the bag recovered from them.
Accused Sanjay and brother Shiva said that a year ago they had taken Rs 60 lakh from Umashankar Singh at 10 taka interest for business. In return for the money, the businessman had kept their 12 bigha farmland with him. After a few months, Umashankar Singh started harassing them for money. He used to abuse their mother and sister. For this reason, as per the plan, they sat together on the night of June 24 and partied with Umashankar in his house. They drank alcohol. When he protested, they killed Umashankar. The police have arrested the accused and sent them to jail.
