Jagadguru Swami Rambhadracharya honored with Honorary D Litt degree

Sagar, June 20: The 33rd convocation of Dr Harisingh Gour Central University located in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh was concluded on Friday. In the ceremony organized at Gaur courtyard located in the university campus, 957 students were awarded degrees and gold medals. During this, Padma Vibhushan Jagadguru Swami Rambhadracharya was honored with the honorary D Litt degree.

Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari joined the ceremony virtually and addressed the students.

Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla, State Food and Civil Supplies Minister Govind Singh Rajput, regional MP Lata Wankhede, MLA Virendra Singh, University Vice Chancellor Neelima Gupta were present on the stage in the ceremony.

University Chancellor Kanhaiya Lal Berwal presided over the ceremony and Vice Chancellor Prof Neelima Gupta presented the annual report.

Swami Rambhadracharya expressed concern over rising of corruption in his speech in the convocation ceremony.

He said that before becoming an MLA or a minister, a man has nothing, but after becoming one, he has everything. He said that corruption is prevalent in every field, which is necessary to end.

Addressing the students, he said that wherever you go, do your work honestly. He expressed concern over the increasing use of English. He said that everyone speaking in English in the ceremony felt as if they were sitting in Cambridge University in London. On the one hand, the government is promoting Hindi, on the other hand, it was sad to see the use of English here.

Only education will make the country a world leader: Gadkari

Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, who joined the program virtually, said that development in every field is necessary to make India a world leader. Referring to the thoughts of Swami Vivekananda and Mahatma Gandhi, he called upon the youth to follow in their footsteps.

Union Minister said that we have the best technology in the world. Poverty, hunger and unemployment have to be eradicated. Electricity, water, health and road arrangements have to be made in every village. For this, strength and willpower are needed, which will be possible only through education.

A total of 1225 students had registered for the convocation, out of which 957 students were awarded degrees. These included 426 PG, 482 UG and 49 PhD students. Before this, the convocation procession reached the venue and the ceremony began.
