New Delhi, June 20: Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) in the Union Ministry of Space Science and Technology, said on Friday that the proposed launch of Axiom Mission-4 (Axiom-4) has been postponed for the time being. This mission was going to leave for the International Space Station (ISS), in which four astronauts including India’s Shubhanshu Shukla were to board.
Dr Jitendra Singh told in the X post that NASA has decided to “stand down” from the possible launch date scheduled on June 22. Now the mission will be launched on a new date, which will be announced soon.
The responsibility of sending the Axiom-4 mission into space lies with the private American company Axiom-Space, which carries out commercial space travel in collaboration with NASA. The special thing about this mission is that India’s young scientist Shubhanshu Shukla is also going to travel to space, which has created a lot of excitement in the country.
Dr Singh said that according to the information he has received, the mission will be launched on a new possible date. However, he also clarified that there may be some technical or security reason behind the delay, which will be officially confirmed by NASA.
Under the Axiom-4 mission, astronauts will do many scientific experiments and research work on the International Space Station. This mission is also special for India because it shows the participation of Indians in private space flights and will be helpful in accelerating the country’s space ambitions in the coming times. Scientists and space lovers across the country are excited about this flight of Shubhanshu Shukla and now everyone’s eyes are on the new launch date.
