SIT files chargesheet against 23 accused including SP MP Zia ur Rahman Barq

Moradabad, June 18: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Wednesday filed a chargesheet in the MP-MLA court against 23 accused, including Samajwadi Party MP Zia ur Rahman Barq, former minister and Sambhal Sadar MLA Nawab Iqbal’s son, who were made accused in the violence that took place during the survey of the disputed Jama Masjid on November 24 last year in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh. Suhail Iqbal, son of MP and MLA Iqbal Mahmood, was made a named accused in the case crime number 335/24, along with various other unknown accused were also included. In this case, after the role of Jama Masjid Committee’s Sadar Zafar Ali Advocate came to light, he was also arrested. Now the SIT has filed a chargesheet against 23 accused including MP, MLA’s son on the basis of facts.

Sambhal Superintendent of Police (SP) Krishna Kumar Bishnoi said that the SIT has completed the investigation on the basis of facts. The chargesheet has been filed by the investigator in the court on Wednesday. It is known that after the uproar on November 24, 2024, 12 cases were registered in Sambhal Kotwali and Nakhasa police station. This included four murder cases.

The SIT was entrusted with the investigation of these cases. The chargesheet of 10 cases was filed in the court by the SIT. The case in which the sons of the MP and MLA were made named accused. That was also being considered as the main case of this entire uproar by the police.

Zia ur Rahman Barq accused of giving provocative speech and Suhail Iqbal accused of instigating the crowd

According to the FIR registered in crime number 335/24 in the riot that took place near Jama Masjid, MP Ziaur Rahman Barq was accused of giving provocative speech before the riot. While on the day of the riot, Suhail Iqbal, son of MLA Nawab Iqbal Mahmood is accused of instigating the crowd. Later, the MP was accused of asking to stop the survey and gather the crowd even before the riot. Many other similar allegations have been leveled against the MP.
